Listening to the music of L’Escargot means sharing and exploring a musical universe made of poetry, dreams, magic, childish games, melancholy, joy, slowness; a mosaic of emotions that intertwines the grace of classical music with the flavors of the popular mediterranean traditions, echoes of our cinematic memories with the sounds and colors of the French and Irish musical heritages.
L’Escargot was founded in Bari in year 2003 by four multi-instrumentalists coming from a very wide range of experiences and projects.
The current line up consists of Alessandro Pipino (accordion, concertina, toy piano, musical saw, ukulele), Gianni Gelao (flutes, uillean pipes, ukulele, harmonica, glockenspiel, toys) and Adolfo La
Volpe (guitars, banjo, ukulele). Over the course of the past eighteen years the group has played several concerts, recorded three albums and collaborated with various theater and movie directors for many documentaries, movies, dance and theater works.
Since 2012 the group has been collaborating on a regular basis with the illustrator Maria Teresa de Palma. Recent projects include also the publishing of the single “Revenant” and collaborations with the singer and songwriter Rebecca Fornelli and with the early music ensemble La Cantiga de La Serena.
