Organetto a cUKù. -Balfolk
with
Organetto a cUkù -
Chiesa di San Pietro
The "Organetto a cUkù" project stems from the combination of two instruments that are part of the folk tradition of two very distant areas: the Organetto, present in the folk tradition of Italy and Europe, and the Ukulele, the quintessential Hawaiian instrument, which has been very popular worldwide for several years. The group will propose a new repertoire of "Balfolk" for ukulele and organetto consisting of dances (circassian circles, scottish, mazurkas, bourrées, rondeaus, waltzes...). During the Dance Concert, Mina Morrelli from BiB Balfolk will be present to teach these very simple and engaging dances even to those who have never danced them before.

Open Mic e Sing - Along
with
Giulia Nervi -
Chiesa di San Pietro
Come and play! Hosted by Giulia Nervi, MC of the Monopolele 2023 evening concerts with Salvo and Mauro. This year she will be the MC of the two usually over-crowded open-mics. While her attitude is usually very polite, people playing more than their allotted time drive her crazy (don't complain after: we warned you).

Evening Concert
with
P I S C O - Trio Mandili - Peter Moss - George Elmes -
Piazza Palmieri
We will meet a bit earlier tonight for a surprise (no, we're not going to tell you in advance...) Then...P I S C O, which stands for the ukulele and accordion of Patrìcia Lestre and Sonia Sobral. The intensity, the warmth, life that becomes voice. In a few words, the charm of Portugal. We will breathe in its atmospheres full of humanity, strong scents, longing, and warmth, finding ourselves in its alleys traversed by folk tales and vibrant life. An evening of music, songs, and storytelling that will open our hearts.
And then? And then, a triumph of Caucasian flavors will erupt on Piazza Palmieri and envelop the audience with its celestial harmony. One of the most anticipated moments: directly from Georgia, the Trio Mandili. Three girls (Tatuli, Tako, and Mariam), three voices, and a panduri, a Caucasian trichord instrument with a suggestive sound. An ancestral song full of grace and beauty, for one night, will transform Monopoli into a corner of the world full of stories, moods, and flavors from the deep East.
A grand finale when George Elmes & Peter Moss take the stage, and the ukuleles begin to grind out notes and unleash sweet and raucous sounds, with intense ballads alternating with acrobatic flights, in the finest Anglo-Saxon virtuosic tradition.
