Atypical Ukulelist, with a personal style. After a degree in languages he devoted himself to experimental
studies of ethnomusicology and anthropology mostly between Spain and France. A period in collaboration
with the University of Barcelona and Basilicata in which he tests new languages based on tradition and
ancient cultures through the use of unconventional means, such as the fusion of typical musical
instruments belonging to different customs and cultures and technology. . Danilo Vignola, with over 500
ukulele concerts behind him in the last six years throughout Europe, has brought the ukulele out of the
typical Hawaiian chordophone environments; giving the instrument a new identity and dignity. Thanks to
his contribution, in prestigious international jazz clubs the ukulele becomes one of the main promoters of
the Ethno-Jazz movement, in the most active social centers in the avant-garde cultural ferment up to
alternative festivals (unthinkable for a ukulele) of Punk music and Heavy Metal. Among various academic
awards from music conservatories and academies, Danilo's ethno-anthropological ukulele becomes the
subject of study by the universities of Basilicata and Palermo in collaboration with Cambridge, Oxford and
the normal of Pisa. Reference instrument in recent years in the World and Ethnic festivals of southern Italy
for folk groups and orchestras, thanks to the new techniques and sounds of pizzica, taranta, bulerias, soleà
and rumba, introduced by Danilo Vignola.

From the United States in 2010 he received the "Eleuke" world award as the best technique for electric
ukulele “Fingers of Fury”, in October 2015 he received the MEI (Meeting of independent labels) award in
Faenza, in its twentieth edition, recognized by the most influential national record companies as the best
innovative artist in Italy thanks also to "Ukulele Revolver", instrumental disc for classic and electric ukulele
which today boasts thousands of copies sold. A record that projects the ukulele in completely unexplored
dimensions.
